Daily Journal January 1, 1998, New Years, William Thomas Thompson. The New Year arrived with all the fireworks and noise from downtown at midnight. The T.V. was hot with people cold and their children celebrating on frozen streets. If the globe is warming, why is it so cold here in these parts? The day was quite and peaceful. On holidays one pulls out things to fix and do that is not doable at any other time. This is the day to do it all and from the looks of things, I think we are trying to do it all to-day. For six years now we have been recreating this house and a little at a time it falls into place. I love it, thank God for it. What is wrong with America and why can it not be fixed? I have recorded on my VCR some interesting facts about health over the holidays that I wish to share in this daily journal in a few days. The recognition by the ill fated AMA that vitamin B-6 and 12 plus folic acid is good for the heart is a step in the right direction. The canning of the doctor who declared this to be true in the 70's in favor of cholesterol is tragic. How should we the people view our government in light of all the waste and self serving money schemes to drain the treasury? People are the scrap goats for the powerful medical society of America. No where else in the world is medical such a problem with run-a-way cost as we have, yet there is no fix being offered, only appeasement of the ruling mighty medical profession. This is one of the top 10 reasons that America will not survive past this century. This is one of my main subjects to paint in art to reveal ourselves as we really are in this glutton medical society of nonstop hunger for money by doctors and hospitals. We see the results in dead bodies and in the ever mounting national debt we are leaving to our children to pay, only if by some means we manage to survive. Rome thought they would last forever but quick was their fall. A new year is time for "New Years resolutions" which are known to not ever be kept 90percent. Traditionally we eat beans and greens on this day and my wife cooks the world¹s most wonderful tasting meal with canned red tomatoes and with a small amount of pork as added for flavor, the smell last all the year. I can see the steam rising off the bowl as it sweeps across the kitchen and onto the dinner table. The cornbread steaming hot just out of the oven makes the palate complete and totally satisfied, it’s the very best. We are living and it is one more year to give thanks to God. Today I am swimming in memory of years past but the dinner bell never rang except for someone wanting to visit the house. When I finally ask knowing the kitchen had been silent, I was told that this year we were going to Cracker Barrel Restaurant for dinner. After a 40 minute wait and another 40 minutes to be served, I can say it’s just not the same as I see, smell and taste in the past. May this be the year Dear Lord of our total commitment to thee? The end is near I believe and no one thing is causing it so much as time itself. It is the plan of God that will prevail. May I convey this message via visual art for a better understanding? Make us free from the world’s vises and holy before thee. Revelation 17-6, “And I saw the women drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. End of day one. I am honored to have my paintings displayed in Las Vegas. I am delighted with this opportunity to introduce my work to the western world in your fine facility with your expert curator advice. I appreciate your consistent advocating of my work and applaud your plans to put this show on the road. It was a miracle that I made the flight Friday night and thanks for your help to get my rented car returned. I waded through the thousands of people to pass security for a standby seat and thank God to be home. As we ascended through the midnight sky with a right turn out, I saw the Vegas strip so bright and beautiful.
